Cal America Education Institute is located in a central location in the heart of Los Angeles, and much of what you need can be found within minutes from campus.

  • Subway Station – A short 5-minute walk from campus will take you to the Wilshire/Vermont station, a stop on the Red and Purple Lines, which are underground subway lines operated by the MTA. This station also has several restaurants, cafes, and shops.
  • Park- Directly across from Cal America is Lafayette Park. This beautiful city park has benches, basketball courts, tennis courts, a soccer field, and even a skate park.
  • Library – The Felipe de Neve branch of the Los Angeles Public Library is located in Lafayette Park, directly across from Cal America.
  • Coffee Shops – There are number of coffee shops located in the area, including Starbucks and Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, as well as many other cafes.
  • Restaurants – CAEI is surrounded by restaurants of all types, including Italian, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, Mexican, Japanese, American and more. You can choose from full-service sit-down restaurants, food courts, food trucks and, of course fast food restaurants.
  • Entertainment - Cal America is located just a two stops on the Purple Line from the famous Wiltern Theatre, which hosts a variety of events and live concerts. Going the opposite directions into Downtown, where among countless shops, restaurants, clubs, and more, you’ll find LA Live, which hosts the Staples Center, the Nokia Theater, and several fine dining establishments.
  • Bowling- For students who enjoy bowling, Shatto Lanes is located just a few blocks north on Vermont. Shatto lanes has been in business since 1954 and its vintage charm makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time.
  • Gyms – There are numerous gyms and fitness clubs in there area.
  • Supermarket -There are several supermarkets in the area, including both Vons and Ralphs at the corner of Vermont and 3rd street, and the Galleria Market in the Galleria Mall.
  • Bank – Some of the banks conveniently located within minutes from Cal America include Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Nara Bank.
  • Cellular Service – Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile stores can all be found a short distance from campus.
  • Drug Store – There are several pharmacies located just a short walk from school, including Walgreens, Rite-Aid. and CVS.
  • Check out the CAEI Google Map to see points of interest around the Cal America language school.
Cal America students are eligible to purchase Metro Student ID passes. Students receive a reduced fare of $43 for a monthly pass.

Subway System

The Wilshire/Western subway stop is a three-minute walk from campus. The Purple Line connects with the Red Line and the Blue Line and can take you to Union Station, the central hub for public transportation in Los Angeles. The Metro Rail System is a great way to get around town.

Bus System

Metro Rapid Express #720 stops in front of the school and can take you to Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Downtown and Montebello. MTA buses #20, #21, #22, #207, and #357 also stop in front of the school, making it easy for students to get to Westwood, Hollywood, Jefferson Park and many other places. The Santa Monica Big Blue Bus Rapid #7 stops next to the Wilshire/Western subway stop and goes all the way to Santa Monica where you can find the 3rd St Promenade, the pier, and the beach!
